Digital Storytelling
This lesson and assignment is going to allow the students to be "not only readers and writers but also as directors, artists, programmers, screenwriters, and designers." This quote comes from an online article by Sara B. Kajder titled Enter Here: Personal Narrative and Digital Storytelling. This assignment will not be a narrative but will be telling the story of the Oklahoma City Bombing based on the video that is provided.

Activity:
Split the students up in groups of 5 or 6 (or however works better for the number of students in your classroom). Provide the link the the video in which you have chosen for them to watch and an appropriate amount of time to watch and take notes. Depending on the amounts of groups you may want to use a few different videos.

Provided is the YouTube link to the special edition of the footage and interviews for the OKC Bombing if you would like to use this. It is almost an hour long so it could be set for one class period or split up or even a take home watch.
The next step for the students to discuss 3-5 major topics that they would like to describe in their digital storytelling. The will need to provide facts and images and music put together in a video or slide show.
Example Topics: 1. What the Murrah building is. 2. How the building was destroyed. 3. What happened after the bomb detonated. 4. How did they find the terrorist and what happened to him. 5. What does the memorial consist of.
Once the assigned groups have designed their digital story they need to present it in front of the classroom. Depending on the length of time you have available is how long their presentation should be.

Encourage the students to use outside sources other than internet. Newspapers, articles, books, etc.
